I just picked up a new to me mr3. What do you guys use as far as grease and oil? Do you use graphite powder with the oil on the cork drag as recommended by islander? Any tips on keeping this reel running smooth would be greatly appreciated.

I just answered your post on Spoonpullers! As I said I'm prostaff for Islander and all you need is a touch of light grease for using them in freshwater. The only other thing I do to look after my Islanders is loosening off the drag as soon as I'm done fishing. I do that with all my reels. The only problem I've found with Islanders is I never ever want to use a level wind again!

Read that the drag washers are subject to water intrusion when used in the rain. The water will eventually cause the drag to be jumpy & erratic.

So, they need to be serviced more often when used in the rain.
