Tried searching for an answer but didn't find one.

What's the best way to fix rips in a canvas bow cover? There are two about 3-4" long rips. I'm thinking of using the iron on patches but might sew them first so they don't get bigger. I pull a dumb move and set something on the bow of the boat and when I went to take it off it caught the cover.

Any better ways to fix it? Thanks in advance.

I know it might not be as cheap as a do it yourself patch but probably the best bet would be to catch one of the canvas guys that visits the nearest marina and have them match it up with a sewn on patch of actual canvas. If they aren't real busy they are often pretty good about helping out.

i had a similar problem! i ended up doing a temporary patch using the clear roll of patch material from bass pro!it was far stronger than i envisioned, and now it looks as its a permanent fixture!for very little $$

I'm with Les on this one. If you can leave it with a guy it would be a lot cheaper and better fix than you can do yourself. The dont have travel or the neccesity of completing asap like a bread and butter job.

Ok thanks for the info.

So then the next question is where does everyone suggest I take it? I live in Attica so Rochester or Buffalo are about the same distance.
