Salmon near Seattle test positive for drugs

Interesting article about contaminated salmon in Seattle Washington, and the suspected source is tainted wastewater discharges. The fish had elevated levels of Prozac, Advil, Benadryl, Lipitor and even cocaine, as well as many other drugs.

 

Even fish tested in the Nisqually estuary, which receives no direct municipal treatment-plant discharge, were contaminated.

 

I hope it's not happening in the Great Lakes!

When the salmon aren't hitting maybe we should suspect "overdose"? Better than blaming ourselves for screwing up I guess   What next (I didn't really ask that did I?)

My understanding is they will still keep all there current welfare benefits from both the state and feds but also now be eligible for rehab, halfway houses and be excused of any crimes they commit.  They see this as a win-win situation.

I'm still wondering what made them start testing salmon for drugs...

I can see it now, the Chik Filet billboards with salmon (instead of cows) painting "eat more chicken" ☺

maybe they should put steroids in the wastewater.  as long as the fish are doing drugs.  If they test positive for HGH does that disqualify them for the record books or do they just get an astrix

 

 

 

maybe thats the real reason fish oil makes you healthier it just gets you doped up a bit so you dont feel the pain

So if you test positive for a drug test you can just say that you ate salmon yesterday.

Does cocaine and the other drugs get cooked out of the meat, or are those drugs getting passed on to whoever eats the fish?
