Does anybody target perch in the big water during the summer? I know Ontario gets some big perch. Would be nice to find them out in the deep during summer.

Now till the next 8 weeks or so (till weeds on surface pack on shore) is the best time for me to catch perch from shore. 1000's swim in schools along shore line this early on Lake Ontario open water shorelines. Best results are early AM when the lake is crystal clear and flat glass calm. Hardest part is targeting the bigger size perch. As soon as bait sinks to depth of perch the smaller aggressive size fish hit first.  I use bigger baits (spinners or small plugs) to limit the smaller fish hits.
