Bullheads

Got out for a few hours on Saturday night. Went to Long Pond along the North shore. Couldn't get Leeches yet so night crawlers and Red Worms for us. We caught half dozen bullheads, 2 LARGE perch and a Silver Bass. Not bad for first time out.

Excellent.  I did some carpin' Sunday morning at Irondequiot outlet.  I chummed a football field of water and did have a good run.  I may have over chummed a bit, for the temperature.  It's a guessing game sometimes.

What water temperature are you looking for when targeting the spring bullheads?  I'm asking, because there are couple small creeks by me here on Lake Erie where I have done really well, but it's hit or miss every year.  I think it's a timing thing.  I can't remember exactly when I hit them good a few years back.

FWIW my camp neighbor filled a bucket with bullheads and white perch this saturday using night crawlers. He was fishing from his dock. He also got two really nice channel cats 20+ lbs. I didn't see the channels caught but he showed me photos. He let those go and kept the panfish. I was going to take his spot on sunday but the wind was howling so I went home instead.
