Smelt

Anyone know what's up with smelt fishing this year? Is it over? Any help would be greatly appreciated before I drive out 2 hours to Niagara Falls to try my luck.

MNR Ontario at 2015 [ hard to believe ] seminar that the smelt from Lake O. are gone !

Last I heard, the lower Niagara was loaded with smelt right now.

I was down there last night both at the sand docks and artpark. Probably between 40-50 people but no smelt. My guess it's that the run's all but over.
