I'm staying at a cabin near the mouth of the Salmon River. I was wondering if there is much you can catch by surf casting in the summer months? If so, what advice would you give? From my studies it looks like all the trout would be too far off shore for surf casting at this point, maybe smallies? I do real well in the river itself for warm water fish, but there is a little beach on the west side of the entrance to the Salmon River, and I like to hang out there and was wondering if surfcasting would produce anything. Thanks guys.

we've always done well fishing the river's deeper holes for smallies. best fishing we've done from land has to be in fair haven beach state park. nice long wall to walk with tons of structure to fish.
