Iron duke dressed to kill fly with and carmel dolphin SD with custom gold tape from www.fishingluretape.com

Love to hear opinions on running a SD up in the column 50-75' down, with the gold and reds I like its chances.

I really love the balance of colors Mike made up, the purple really has been a hot color in clear water and this fly has just the right amount of it, as you can tell I can't wait to run it!

That setup works well on a few fingers with the small spoon behind a spinny, or bells.

Those are nice combos! We like to run a blueish or white Spinny or a paddle pulling a similar colored fly out between 50-60 on a zero setting on a size 1 dipsy especially on Cayuga that has produced a lot of landlocks and bows. A chrome dodger or paddle with a Sutton spoon 18-24inches behind it works well too

We always start the morning with four dipsys two high dipsys with flasher and fly combos in top 30 to 40 FOW have caught some great off fish. Then drop them down deeper as the day goes on.

How do you guys like to run these setups? What holes in SDs do you use, leader weight and length from ball or diver to flasher and then from flasher to fly, speed, etc?

May run this one ( the SD in pic above) on a ten color lead core or 2-300' copper. But usually run 14' 30lb leader from #1 or mag dipsy to SD. Then hand line them to the net. From the SD to fly that's a matter of opinion, but anywhere from 18"-36" for mine. As for line usually 30lb big game, but lots of guys run 50lb floro for its stiffness (changes action of fly) and strength (salmon). If off a rigger then 8'-14' off ball.

As for holes in SD the ones it comes in, or the most action.
