3 way rigs

Can my main line be mono or does it need to be fluorocarbon? I will be using fluorocarbon for my leaders

It might help if you identified exactly what type of fishing you are referring to because 3 way rigs can be used for a variety of setups on either saltwater or freshwater and for many species. With the 'erie" in your name my hunch is you are talking walleyes maybe?

Depends on leader length. If 3-8 feet, I would use flourocarbon for the invisible factor.

For me its braid for eyes and mono for trout.

I use PowerPro braid for the mainline & either a mono or fluro leader off the three-way.  The braid is much smaller in dia & doesn't stretch.  I can also feel the bottom better when bottom bouncing.

I'm gonna use my line counter reels. I use them for just about everything

I'm with overthelimit - braid for the eyes with fluoro leader and mono for trout and salmon with fluoro leader.
