Hydraulic steering fluid leak

Two boats with hydraulic steering had fluid coming up on the dash through the fill plug. Also the steering has a slack motion as if air is in the system. Anyone have experience with this problem?

The steering Rams have seals at the end that were damaged. This allowed air to be sucked into the system and then the oil overflowed onto the dash. That dealer fixed them with no charge being made.
