I would think 200 ft minimum.  I have one with 200 ft and the other with 300 ft.  The deepest I usually fish is about 120 ft down, but I've sent stuff down to 175 before with success.  It's nice to have it when you need it.

Mine came stock with 150' but I re-spooled them almost right away with 400'. Most of the time I'm only down 65-150, however there have been days during the summer I've had to venture out deep to find the Kings and have had to send the weights deep. The cost difference from a 150' to a 400' was minimal when I did the swap-out. This is one situation where more can be better.
