Got up to the river later than I planned, around 4:30 this AM. Didn't pick up any eyes. Trolled to cover more area. Marked a lot of bait balls mostly in the bottom half of 30 to 50 feet. Large marks with almost all the bait schools. As soon as the sun came up I hammered the northerns. Lost count at 18. They were spitting up big perch. Water was 53 at 4:30 and 59 when I left at 1:30. Flat calm and sunny. Beautiful day !

Tried several spots also caught one small bass. Seem to be marking fish at most spots. Tried trolling and jigging. I am sure it will get better seems early to me but I am sure they are there. Try it again tomorrow night .

Have to join Roybee this morning. Fished favorite haunts this AM 3:30 - 6:30. Never had a hit.

Wow, iif Prof T, Trapper, and Roybee got shut out it must be a tough bite. From the ones I got a couple days ago I think they may be loaded up with gobies. I'll be hitting it this weekend.

Only been out a couple times and only got one 10lb to show for it. Trolling 3 way with scatter rap right on bottom.

 

You guys finding them in the bays still or on shorelines or mid-river structures already?

Thats a great question consigliere..... I will report back on my findings..... I fish both shoreline and mid-river structure..... Hopefully something proves to be productive.

Well we caught in 160 foot if that tells you anything. Same spots and tactics as if it were August!

Tried it last night also very slow did manage another smallie . Tried four regular spots and a couple new . Hope to hit it again tonight. Mostly trolling cranks and worm harness. Nice work Roybee.

Just got the boat in the water. Fished for an hour around 330-430 before dinner. Picked up a nice 28" eye. First of the season.
