Took a friend out who does not fish the big pond. Had hopes of hooking up with decent king but only scrounged up a few lakers. He was happy and wants to go back at em again. Fished from 70-190. Threw a mix of spoons n F/F combos. Best screen for me was 110 fow. post-139866-1464137741359_thumb.jpg

Side note also camped at the Hamlin park this past weekend and had a blast with the kids n little bit of fishing. A very nice park n plenty to do with the family.

Nice! Question about your electronics as I am running a Garmin echo map 43dv on our center console.

What in your opinion is a better setting 77khz or 200khz?

Thanks!

Nice job.

Please, please, please get some life jackets on those kids though.

Thanks for the report,

I have the 550 and prefer the 77 kHz.

Good luck and tight lines.

Thanks, I appreciate it! Will have to give it a try.

Under about 25' use the 200. Over I go to my 50. You would do 77

Thanks for the advice, going to be camping and fishing Cayuga this weekend so will give it a go. New to fishing from a boat so this is a learning curve for me. Our current set up is a good start in my opinion based on what others recommended. The boat is only 17 feet and is a deep V center console with a 2007 mercury 60hp bigfoot and a 4hp 4 stroke kicker for trolling (a little on the shaky side but it maintains speed well after its set) We have two Cannon uni troll 10 STX down riggers and a 10lb ball and a 8lb.  The only knowledge we have of using these is what I have read online and talking with others. I apologize if I have any questions that would seem like fairly common knowledge but were still learning and appreciate the help. One more question however regarding the kicker: What it be better to upgrade eventually to a two cylinder model to reduce the vibration and is it worth the extra cost? We don't have a ton of room on the back.  Right now the 4hp has been extremely fuel efficient and reliable (a new engine so that is not surprising). Thanks!
