I kind of "garbage plated" it this year, peas, clover, turnips etc etc.  In years past it was clover and mowed pretty tight to keep the grass down.  This year Im going to let it go and see how it works out

I've gone the other direction this year.  Instead of planting food plots I planted more cover. I am surrounded by one of the biggest farms in the state so there is food literally everywhere.  I am trying to make my little 115 acres THE place to hide. My dad planted 15,000 spruce and pines about 25 years ago and this year I planted 250 Norway spruce along road edges to eventually be a road screen and another 250 various brush species for cover, (Gray dogwood, arrow wood, and 5 or 6 others). Next year I will be trying Miscanthus! That stuff looks great for screens and cover.  If you've never seen it before check out Maple River Farms.

John,

That's part of the reason the miscanthus looks like a good idea, NO THORNS! Multi floral is nasty crap!

No doubt! Was kinda joking but if you find a big area of it the big boys love to hide in it.

I'll have to look into the miscanthus
