Bluegills on black poppers

Fished an hour on an Indian River lake this evening. Caught about 15 nice ones that I release along with a half dozen small bass and some rock bass Not much more fun than catching them on a fly rod.

Kevin, did you put them all back?? The bigger ones makes very tasty fillets. Nice to see ya out in the daylight!! LOL.

I released them this time but generally keep some as they are tasty. I have a Gheenoe with a 6 hp that I use on the Indian River Lakes for my low tech fishing.

I would bet the big gills are a blast on fly rod..... They sure are a scrappy fish on light tackle. Underrated fighter for sure.....

Nice catch Kevin. Nice to release some every now and again. I do the same thing eyes on the river included.
