Heat the tip and keep the flame off of the rod blank. It will come off once it gets nice and hot.

If all else fails, saw it off and trim up the tip. You won't miss 1/2 inch on a 10 foot rod. The twilly tip kit should have an adapter to fit most anything.

This is better than overheating the blamk which will ruin the rod and you'll end up cutting it back to save it. Todays rods aren't made the old tried and true with the heat glue tip tops. They all use epoxy now and some are near impossible to remove. I just trim them back and remove any fancy wrap that is before the tip. I do reinstall my new tips with ferrule glue(heat type).

like spike said the epoxy really has em stock on!!! i couldn't even get mine off. maybe i was a little to impatient but i just cut mine off with some wire cutters and super glued the twilli tips on. works just fine

Dremel tool with a cutting disc works great - nice clean cut.

Did mine the other day. Put the tip above a candle and it came right off in 20 seconds. I am sure both ways are effective
