I have recently purchased a minn kota terrova with i pilot feature. The manual says to use a 60 amp inline fuse for my 12 bit 55lb motor. Is splicing into the power wire ok to do? I ask because it's a lot of money spent, just wondering what others have done. Thanks for the read!

I wired mine with a 60 amp circuit breaker cause that what my book said to do. I haven't ever had an issue and have wired many boats specifically bass boats with this method. Very easy to do and not cutting into or splicing wires. Ring terminals on each end and the ground goes direct from battery to the motor. I also use the receptacles as well so if chosen the motor can be removed without any hassles.

Like Sea IV said.  Now I think about it,wired just like that , no splicing,  With receptacle.  Marine mechanic where I bought it hooked everything up. Wires are about the size of a pencil.
