1988 35 hp mercury outboard gear problems

Hello, I recently changed out my water pump. When I made it back to the lake, I could not get my boat to go into gear. I get reverse, but no forward. Any help would be appreciated

Go on line and Google up the Info.on that motor and tell them your problem.

I just went through that but I changed the seals and screwed up the linkage between forward and reverse.  Good luck.
