I will be fishing the 1000 islands for musky and pike near grassy point in a week. I am planning on both trolling and casting for them . Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thought so. I am staying quite a ways from you. post-142867-1468805145712_thumb.jpgi have never fished around grass point but it looks like pike heaven on the map. Lots of islands and structure to pick through. If that area doesn't produce you could go through the narrows to eel bay. Vast areas of foot high moss but when you find some tall weeds you will catch all the small to mid size pike you can stand. Spoons are good there. Another option from there is start at Clayton yacht club on the drop off and work around the point all the way to west winds cottages. Bigger pike there. Tight lines bud.

I know of 2 giant pike hooked on tubes yesterday on the slr upriver fishing deeper pools fed by heavy current. Both fish followed the tube up from depths and then hit by the boat...the bigger one was landed and was over 20lbs...not that this is an easy pattern but if you want big toothy predators it's the type of scenario is look for...current breaks with depth and let your offering sink all the way down before working it up

If u zoom in on the pic u can see where the presumed muskie grabbed this guy behind the first dorsal fin on top.... The semi circle. Then tore up the bottom pretty good. Impressive.

Thats why they have such rapid growth rates...... Aggressive appetites. Beautiful fish. Very cool. And a 36 can still scrapp. Great pic[emoji1303][emoji1303]
