I live in Eastern PA far from where that one was caught, but every few years some catches one from a local lake near me.  Typically it's a misidentified Pacu, but that certainly appears to be a piranha based on it's teeth.  Piranha have been sold in PA pet stores and from time to time I still encounter them even though I believe it is illegal now to posses them.

A couple of weeks ago they got a 3ft alligator out of the Lehigh RIve near Lehighton. Made the local news

This is getting way too much attention. I fish this lake several times a week and have never once caught any exotics like Piranha, Pacu, etc. People release fish from their aquariums all the time and they rarely ever survive to breed. Species like Piranha will be lucky to live past September in PA.
