I want to change out my dipsey with braided line and replace with wire. If wire is better in avoiding feas while trolling this time of year, I would like to know specifics of wire for my dispeys. Where do I get it, what test, price, how easy is it to spool and work with? Any help here is appreciated.

Wire all the way.  I use torpedo 19 strand. Great stuff.   Just be sure to read previous posts about dipsy storage, because any little kink in the line will produce a weak spot and it will break.  Just always keep tension during storage on it and you will be fine.

Avoid hook sets,  sure  spool it under heavy tension as well.  Tons of old posts about this on here that helped me out.

another choice is to leave around 700' of braid on your reel..tie braid to the wire (albright knot ) and put 500' of wire on....can do 2 reels with one spool this way

many will disagree but ive done it many times and will continue to do it

I would spool 1000 ft of wire on each reel. Braid backing is a bad idea when you get a screamer on a dipsey that's out 350 and runs the connection through your guides at a strong/fast pace.

Just put your 1000' of wire on and tie on 15' of 50# mono using a small barrel swivel. You can break your rod down for storage and not kink a thing.

I use 30 lb blood run wire.  1000 foot spool and split it between two reels with 30 lb mono backing joined by a tiny swivel that will go through the guides and lay on the spool.
