In my world that is a good sign Nick as it may mean the treatments are taking hold and maybe the smaller ones are on the decline. We had one even a little longer on lake O last time out but he ended somehow with a crushed head .....gee what a shame.....must have gotten our pliers too close to his head

Last week I tipped a bucket full of them over in my new truck. Five dozen eels under the seats, carpet liners...everywhere. I must have got them all cause no fish smell the next day.

Ya, good size to it, but it's not an eel. This is a lamprey. Humans have a closer lineage with eels than eels have with lampreys. Also, eels don't suck the blood of the trout and salmon, a big problem that presents with lampreys.

sandror you are technically correct but folks often refer to them as "eels" around here. I think Nick has seen a few of each to tell the difference :)  but it is a good point of reference for folks not familiar with the Sea lampreys vs. American Eels they are indeed two distinctly different species.

Lets hope the lampricide treatments are truly working Pap....
