Put the boat away this week and finished up on the Fall perch fishing so I'm psyched for ice fishing now.... Most of my stuff has been ready since this summer You'd think after all these years and going through the ice a couple of times I wouldn't get all that excited but ice fishing is something special   Let's hope for some good ice this year!

Guy fell through the ice on Black lake today.... Believe he is ok. Will not be long. End of the week on certain bays and small inland lakes up north. Getting excited!! Be safe out there!!

When I was out on Canandaigua last week the water temp was 46 degrees...it will be awhile yet here I think

I know everyone is antsy to wet a line, but Les made a good point, water in its 40's takes a while to freeze, especially if there's any depth to it. Please use caution when venturing out on the slick shyt!! LOL It's to early yet, work on your equipment for a week or two. A cold Canadian front is moving over the northeast and this will harden things up SOON.

Very good point. Safety first. The water up north usually freezes earlier than down south. Common sense goes a long way..... Be safe out there, as always!! Provide updates if possible as well.

My buddy fished on 3.5" of black ice this am in a bay up north!!! Until the 17 mph W wind and 12 degree windchill sent him packing, lol. Ice fishing season is upon us!!

Chopped a hole off my Sea wall this morn. There was about 1.5 " of good ice. Problem is the snow got on it &

pushed it down and now there is water on it. Snow insulates it & it slows freezing process.Wont be long now.

The wind velocity here isn't helping it is brutal right now.  On the good side the launch ramp canal is frozen so it is starting up on Canandaigua

Made my way up north for a business meeting and to chase some pan fish. Very cold morning with wind chill values of 10 below. Several bodies of water with 3-4" of ice in places.....Hyde lake and black lake had anglers on the ice. Had decent luck with the blue gills and sunnies today. 2/3 of pail. Few perch Caught and 12-15 crappies all short, unfortunately...... Spikes with small jigs took most fish today... Fun day.

Nice job. Otisco from narrows to dam is now frozen over. Not sure how thick but definitely not fishable. Was hoping to be out by mid next week but the upcoming weather is far from promising. Anticipating the ice to melt next week
