saw a cicadas at camp the other day , first time I saw one was in Panama in 1996 at Todd Lott house...... took a picture today....

Holy shyt ERRABBIT my daughters brought one in from the pool, it was acicada also, it was Friday, at first They said it was a locust but they don't look the same after a Google search to see who was right, never under estimate the power of the older minds, I told the kids!! lol

The one the girls brought in the house was 1/2 the size of the humming birds she has coming to her feeder.

Thanks for the opportunity to post this -I saw this guy on my fencepost when I was walking my beagle about a month ago (NJ). When we finished, I went back and was able to get a decent picture on my phone.

If it rotates, the shell is pointing skyward.

I have never seen one at quite this stage before.

When I was a kid (back in the stone age) the kids in the neighborhood would collect as many of the cast off shells as they could and have a contest to see who could find the most....haven't even thought about it since then :)
