I went with the totalscan. The structure scan is pretty useless for what we do. The tablet is pretty hard to read in sunlight. I havent had a chance to try my Father's ipad yet.

Yeah, I think the best of brightness eats battery power, but not an issue if you have a mobile charger or an inverter to use the 110 v charger.

What is the navigation platform you use? Can you drop way points on the screen, and does it follow you and show your position centered all the time?
