Tops will go first for sure. Then once all natural browse are gone and food becomes scarce then they will root for the bulbs. It's fun to watch them when you have snow on the ground, they dig there face in the snow and come up with a big ol turnip in there mouth face covered in snow and munch away. I have been using Evolved Harvest Shot Plot, which is Forage Rape and Turnips.

As JakeyBaby stated, they will browse on the tops earlier on before they touch the bulbs.  From my experience, they don't really go for the bulbs much until we get a heavy frost that changes the composition of the bulbs, making them much more appealing to the deer.

That is what I have heard... The frost concentrates the sugars to some extent and makes them more palatable? How late into the season is this plot usually effective? Anything left by late muzzle?

Stepped on a mature buck walking on this morning. He was bedded on the path I walk in on. He looked to be the busted up mature buck I saw chasing a doe last night.

The wind is goofy but I'm back in the same stand this afternoon.

Had to share. The validity of this is being checked on now by the newspaper.

This huge non-typical buck was unfortunately killed Sunday Nov. 13, 2016 in Manlius, NY on route 173 by a car. It has yet to be scored.

He is a toad! The side view is a lot more impressive one of the few bucks I've seen in NY on the hoof that will go close to or at 160. Some great dear on this thread this year and it was a very low moisture year. Sean
