I want to catch some Ontario beauties. I am not a fan of eating trout.can trout and salmon be released to live after the battle from deeper water? Thanks

Yes after some mouth to mouth, just kidding. The method I use is a bogo grip with about  6 feet of line attached to a cleat, continue trolling and when fish comes around pull in bogo and let her swim off. The frys can usually be launched  head first into the water and off they go.

I looked at the bogagrip and that thing is expensive! Goes from 125$ to 300$, which model is strong enough to hold the fish behind the boat?

How do you burp the fish? Do you mean use a needle to bleed the air out of its swim bladder, or can you just force the air out somehow?

I do the same. Even works with mid summer time surface temps. Just don't leave them swimming in the 70 degree water to long.

Berkley has a lip gripper without scale for around 25 bucks, works the same as the boga for this application. I got mine at FishUSA.com

Lakers can be burped by gently squeezing along the sides and go from the anal vent towards the pectoral fins you will hear the air come out. not sure about the other species
