I was curious if anybody has hooked up off the piers yet or rumored to have. Curious on this year and when the run will start. I remember about 4-5 years ago it was late, I believe beginning of October if I'm not mistaken. I want to start tying flies and preparing but every year it's something I forget I broke, has a hole, needs replaced.

Lethal temps in Harbors right now.  Lake will have to turn over or cooler temps for 5 days in a row to bring them into pier chucking range.

Chuck, typically they start catching early runners after the first week in August on the Salmon River. Little different world than pier fishing

I've caught them at the end of August from the piers with 72 Degree water temps calm winds and no sign of a turnover. it's just a matter of how much time you want to put in. regardless of temp a few do make their way in at night.during the day they're back out into 80-100 feet of water though
