So taking my buddy from Idaho to the Niagara bar after thanksgiving is not an option? I thought we would take a break from deer hunting. ???

You can fish the bar but you can not target lakers out of season.

Is drop shotting with plastic jigs "targeting" lake trout? How do I know what will bite? Can't I catch brown trout,or even steelhead with that method?  I have fished LO all summer. Have not caught a lake trout yet. Only salmon and steelhead.  But I have not jigged much. I honestly believe the idea is that if you catch a fish that is not in season, you release it.

In November ive caught steelhead and browns on 3 or 4 inch plastics with a 1/2 to 3/4 ounce jig head. Lakers will be caught incidentally if you fish near bottom. You can always troll some stick baits or small spoons in shallow and have a good time. In my experience fishing the river and bar in fall there is almost no way to avoid lake trout catches as they move into the same water as steelhead and browns.

If the season is closed on mud chickens why don't you just leave them the hell alone. It's not like it's the only fish in the lake to catch. I'm not a big lake trout fan but really guys
