Hello all;

I wanted to create this post to get some ideas/recommendations for a charter boat in the Finger Lakes. I do have a boat, but its a little 14' footer that I will not be towing it from NWPA. My wife and I are planning on spending 3-4 days around the Finger Lakes in early to Mid June 2017, and we are looking to do some fishing while we are here.

I have done a good bit of looking around the web, and see that Lakers are the primary species.

Is early/mid June too late for some good land lock salmon fishing? Would ideally like to do a charter focusing on landlocks and then lakers...but def. enjoy catching fish in general. So I'm looking for some good references for a charter boat captain on these two lakes....and even Keuka.

Also, having done some research, the shore areas are pretty limited for public use, but if possible if anyone can point me in a general direction for shore fishing it would be appreciated. I primarily plan on brining my bass gear to fish from shore, and focus on weed lines.

Thanks in advance!!

Otisco has excellent opportunities for tiger muskies and bass that time of year from shore. In fact, NYSDEC lists the causeway as one of the top shore spots in the state.

If you are looking to fish Seneca Lake, Captain Nick (Reel Stories Charters) 607-426-5919 is as good as they get and as far as I'm concerned has the best fishing boat on that lake. You wouldn't be disappointed.

Some very good suggestions here. Nick Overacker http://www.reelstoriesfishingcharters.com/   and Sean Brown http://reelhookedup.com/main.php are very good bets for Seneca Lake. Paul Nagle http://www.canandaiguafishing.com/ is one of the best around for Canandaigua Lake. if you are interested in Walleye fishing or Tiger Muskies Justin Okrepki http://www.otiscolakeguideservice.com/ is one of the best around (if not THE best). I have confidence in each one of these guys to give you the experience you desire and have no reservations in recommending them.

I may add, plan your vacation right, and the last weekend in June is free fishing weekend. No license required.

Now there's a man worthy of looking up!! Especially if out of state, NY state has reasonable out of state fishing license, I think it's $50.00 and something else that they did was make the license from date of purchase to the following years date of purchase!!

Lots of good captains on Cayuga too, and this year Cayuga had better fishing.  What that means for next year is a good question but something to think about.

Thanks everybody for pointing me in a good starting direction.

Capt. Nick....I'll be in touch once we get everything finalized for our accommodations at the lakes.
