Downrigger choice - cannon or Scotty

Fellow fishermen,

What would be your choice of downrigger? Cannon or Scotty.

I am in the market for a new downrigger - not more than $500 a piece.

you are going to get alot of different opinions on this 1. i chose scottys and im happy. They all are personal preferences. Just pay attention to the best service

I had cannons and they were fine, easy to use and dependable riggers.

I now have Scottys and I'd never consider going back.

I can't tell you how Scotty's Customer Service is since they've never given me any trouble.

You'll be happy with either of your options.

I have cannon mag 10's and my next riggers will be Scotty's.

I have big jon electrics and have many years of great service from them. However, after fishing on a friends boat with scotty's a few times, I am going Scotty's also. Big Jon's customer service is awesome by the way.

I have a couple of older Scotty's and they are great. I had a problem with them at first with a switch and the customer service was OUTSTANDING :!:

I was running a pair of Cannon Mini Mags for a couple of years and they worked fine.Just picked up a pair of Scotty 1116 and would never go back to Cannon. Just my two cents.

FWIW, I had three Scotty's on my boat when I bought it and every member of my crew thoroughly disliked them. We went with the new Cannon Mag 10HS and couldn't be happier. That being said, either choice will work quite well for you. It all boils down to personal preference.

Thank you for sharing your tips. I have picked up two cannon digi trolls last night. Thanks to the tip off by one of our fellow LOU member.

I am most comfortable with cannon due to the sleek and compact design for my V21 wellcraft.
