Couldn't find the Browns , moved out to 70-100 FOW, couldn't get away from the lakers, they where smacking the spoons at 3.2 mph , any slower and I would double up... hoping for a steelie or a king but didn't catch anything but lakers, this one was a dandy!! IMG_1487719130.896049.jpg

Me and one of my sons casted off the pier this evening. No fish but a pretty evening and the pier ice free. Could be good the next couple days.

In shallow water spring fishing, side planers way outside are a must. Your boat spooks the fish to the side where your planers will be. Even long lines in the spring are unproductive. Work the warmest water you can find and go slow like one mph with shallow diving stick baits that float up when you stop for a snagged line. A couple split shot ahead of the lures will help to take them a little deeper.
