Personally I've heard once you go synthetic you shouldn't go back! but I don't buy that. What year is the motor and if you need to be using a oil that is compatible to which type of lifters and cam. They used to have a buffer in the oil so that your cam and lifters didn't destroy each other.Shell Rotella oil still has these properties. This is the oil I use in a strait 30 weight. Need year of motor if still original to the boat!!

Well that might be ok to use, the mid 80's on back are the one's that need that diesel motor oil as they still need to have to run type of oil. Pm Hank on here he's a moderator. He is also the best of the best as a boat mechanic also. He will give you the 100% right answer!! He posted on the thread called. finger lakes tackle. Hope that helps!!
