I'm looking for get a kicker for my 1675 lund impact for trolling Salmon. Does Mercury 9.9hp is too big for my boat?

Some people said 6HP is the best for small boat less than 18 foot. what you guys can tell me something?

Thank you in advance.

Dillon

Another thing to consider is number of cylinders. Most 6hp motors are single cylinders where a 8hp is the smallest twin. Twin cylinder four strokes are far more quiet and have a lot less vibration. Even if a 8hp is slight overkill it's worth it in my opinion. And make sure it's a long shaft.

I have a mercury twin cylinder 6 hp I'd probably be interested in parting with. Just changed impeller and plugs. Trolls very nice
