What are your thoughts about this?

Has anyone tried this on a downrigger cable to stack another rod? I was thinking of dropping it down the cable and hooking the line from the rod to it with a rubber band. Also do you think it will go about half way down?

What are your thoughts?

Diesel, maybe I'm confused, but when you say about dropping it down the rigger cable, I think of something along the lines of a free slider. Esp when you mention about it going half way down. If that is so, how do you plan to put a load on the rod to eliminate any more slack upon release?

Didn't think about loading the rod. Guess it won't work.
