Snap weights

So I picked up some planer boards releases in a garage sale box I picked up the ones that have the shower curtain clip on it. I'm thinking about modifying them to accept weights anyone done or seen this?

As for clips to be used as a snap weight the ones from off shore tackle have a pin in the center so the fish can't shake the weight off the line.   A regular release wouldn't have that pin in the center.
