Kicker motor set up for aluminum boat

I'm looking to mount my Mercury 9.9 tiller on my tracker targa . What do I put between the transom and the kicker bracket? Other wise it's going to dig into my transom

I put a piece of 1/2" thick rubber, helps with vibrations as well. Different boat but still aluminum

Any 1/2 in hardwood waterproofed also. A layer of thin rubber would be good as before mentioned for vibration.

I use a piece of PVC board, can paint it to match if you like.

I used some stainless.
