Catfish

I've been out catfishing now twice with my friends and we've been killing them... Or rather, he's been killing them... We are using the exact same set ups, and the exact same weight yet he is catching 5 for every 1 I catch! Any ideas what could be causing this? I'm almost convinced it's some sort of smell on my hands or something

Went out 3 weeks ago. I would cast straight out and get sunfish... After dark. Buddy literally is casting inches from same spot I am... Pulls out bullhead... Could be distance between hooks, leader length, sinker weight... Could be a patch of sea weed they approach and use for cover... Fish are weird.

It's maddening lol... We made everything identical and it's up to 10 for my 1.... It is what it is though... At least we're catching

Sometimes current matters as catfish follow a scent from the bait they come to the downstream bait first and thus that one gets more hits
