that will spread  to Seneca lake fast. i was on Cayuga lake last weekend . i did wash the boat and wash out the live well witch had bait from the lakers puking it up .

It is more than likely already there.  VHS is it usually only affects sick or stressed fish.  Healthy fish will survive it.

I wish I shared your optimism. Always been with us? Really? It was first detected in the US in 1988. It is capable of massive fish kills. You're right that we can't do much about it, other than handle live bait in a responsible manner to prevent its' spread to new waters.

Yes it has been with us and in Europe a lot longer than here. It can spread from the handling of caught fish dead or alive. Except for the St.Lawerence River muskie population in NY, where has it really decimated gamefish populations and it has been for 29 yrs ?
