What are the best size salmon rods for downriggers? Are 8'6" medium lights too light?

i like the akuma classic pro 8 -6 med downrigger rod with a 30 on it fish usa like 80 bucks for the combo

Ugly stick 8'3" med light they are about the best downrigger rods made.
