Really want to upgrade my transducer. The more I search the more confused I get. I have a stock 83/200 transducer on the boat now.

Looking to get a P66 50/200.

 

Then I see the Tm150 with chirp. With this unit I need to put Sonarhub in also?

 

Then there is the Airmar TM260

 

Or simply throw in the towel and get new HDS Gen3????

I made some tweaks to my HDS Gen 2 touch from info that I got from a Lance Valentine/Walleye 101 DVD.  It seems to have helped greatly in the performance.  One of the steps is to select a transducer-the default is a generic transducer.  DVD was less than $30 and was easier than trying to read the manual.

I have the HDS Gen2 (non-touch). With the sonar hub and that TM150 with CHIRP and the long probe side scanning one. I am not 100% sold on the Airmar my stock transducer gives me a really good picture. The Airmar looses the bottom a lot and the screen looks identical to the stock tiny transducer. It is very bubble sensitive as well.

You can also use the HDI transducers that'll produce down scan on the touch models. There relatively cheap 2
