Hi friends just want to know why my Johnson 140 hp outboard 1988 every time I give it throttle high throttle the proppeler seems that the  is running loose  I give it speed and then it does not stay at high speed it comes down a little

From what I can decipher from your post it sounds like the prop hub may be slipping under load. Do you have a spare prop that you can swap it out with ? Most non inboard props have a rubber hub that can come unglued over time.

If your rpms are high and your losing thrust you spun a rubber hub like Bob said or your motor is trimmed to high and you are grabbing air on your prop. I saw your other post about your trim. Maybe you are trying to keep it trimmed up to far ?
