Magna 30 drag

I have a couple magna pro 30dx reels on rigger rods . I really dislike these reels . The drag is like an off switch.. its either too hard or to weak and seems like a tiny threshold between . Is there something I can do to remedy this ? Also is there any mod to make the clicker louder ?

I put in carbon fiber washers on my magdas, they seem to help a bit but ive still have them be sticky at times, i dont really use my magdas in my salmon spread for this reason but i have cAught some giant 30 pound stripers on them.

I understand. Out of all the reels on the boat these two magnas serve as backup or don't feel like re-tying reels . Didn't know if there was a way to remedy it . i have cheap convectors and daiwas that work fantastic .

Send them to Andy Copenhaver at Tuna's Reel Troubles and have him go over them and put in carbon fiber drags. It will help but won't make them into high end reel drags either. They are very competent  folks there and great at customer servicing, fair with their pricing, and quick on the turn around.

Almost every reel I own for salmon, no matter what brand (to include the Tekota's with the infamous sticky drags) get new carbon drags from Tuna Tom's when I get them. Once they are installed, the drags work nicely. Newer Convectors and Clarions come with nice carbon fiber drag washers from the factory.
