Trench 8/30

Fished the Trench from 6;30 to12;00 noon . Screen was loaded with marks all day . Managed 4 kings and 2 coho . No majors , kings ran 12 to 16 lbs.  Lots of boats but everyone was courteous and gave plenty of room .

What is the "trench"? Can I get there out of Olcott?

Would be a long run  lol  The "trench " is a canyon between Stoney Island and Stoney Point out of Henderson Harbor on the east shore .

How far have they moved up in last year i caught a few out in front of the cut when most boats were working way out towards the light .

I'd say there gonna be close to there with the temps being what they are. Especially early in the am

2 years ago we caught them right as we made the turn outside Limestone Shoals, just happened to catch a school moveing up towards the Black River, more than once this happened. A pile of boats combat trolling and we were the only soles up there, nobody even came to nose off what we were doing. LOL

We fished the trench Tuesday and Wednesday.  Thermocline moved up yesterday to 80'. Best fishing for us was 95 to 120 down over 120 to 130' of water. Big white and green E Chips with studfly and studfly meat rigs worked well.  The kings liked the big white on the wingers.  1.9 to 2.4 speed at ball.  Lines 10 to 30' behind cannon balls.  We did best between 11 am and 4 pm when boat traffic thinned.  Sharpen hooks!  25lb king was our biggest.  Good luck.

good to hear they are likeing slower speeds.  I can't get to the uppers 2's and 3's running divers in the kayak unless I have a tail wind but coming back around isn't any fun

Thermocline has moved way up. 50ft and in the short hour I was out we had three fish, hope it starts to warm up cause these guys might be in the river before we know it

I heard some are in the rivers already, with temps down in the upper 30's at night, this will be a early year?? Lots to come yet. I hope??
