Oswego County Fishing Report for September 5

This report courtesy of the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning.

Lake Ontario report:

According to Capt. Troy Creasy of High Adventure Sportfishing Charters:

Two days with our clients and limit catches both days – kings, cohos and a bonus lake trout. Fishing remains incredible with staging salmon scattered from west of Oswego all the way north to Henderson Harbor. It’s just been difficult to get two days in a row with the wind.

Oswego River report

The water flow has been over 2,000cfs a couple of times since yesterday. This afternoon it is running at 1,760cfs.  There was not a lot of salmon activity in the river over the weekend although a few stragglers have been seen. Anglers are finding some smallmouth bass and sheepshead using crayfish.

Notice: The bridge to Leto Island is closed, and there are mandatory personal flotation device (PFD) zones on the river. For more information, view the Brookfield Varick Fish Safely Brochure.
