Prop shaft on Evinrude lightwin

Upper splines rounded off. Took it out of casing but can't seem to find how to remove coupler. Is it possible to replace just coupler or is it part of the crank shaft?

  Try  looking at google or u-tube.   I believe it should be bolted to the fly wheel.  good luck.   jmo

Nothing so far. Looked at exploded view. Shows no coupler. Stuck the prop rod in for s&g and the prop shaft grabbed... maybe the lower half is messed up... lower half of the shaft looks fine... gear oil has no metal flakes... not milky...

When I stick the shaft in far enough, it turns the motor. There does seem to be something lose inside the prop housing maybe. It didn't turn both ways before but does now... looking for a new to me motor... might just got brand new... just interested in what went wrong with this one since it seems pretty simple to mess with

That shaft is totally shot! Wow. You could get it spray welded and recut, but probably cheaper to buy a new one.

Yeah I was pretty sure that it was shot... the more that I think about it and after looking at the exploded pics... i think that is tapped right into the crank shaft... no coupler [emoji24]

Yes it should have a fairly snug fit. It’s called a tool fit and should be less than .003.

Weld it together [emoji23]. Probably couldn't get it true if I had some one weld it lol
