Wayne County Fishing Report for November 7, 2017

Streams- We wished for water flow and we now have it, however 8 inches of rain during the last two weeks has left the streams flooding. You can fish the north side of Maxwell Creek where the flow is slower. Cast out egg sacs under a bobber with a heavy sinker.

Some steelhead came on the south side of Lake Road, where anglers were throwing out heavy spoons. The steelies were after the salmon eggs.

The salmon have just about finished the run and now it’s BT time. When the water recedes, the fishing will be fantastic. Give it a day or two.

Bays- The perch are hitting in Port Bay and Sodus. Fish the points where you’ll find drop-offs. Use rubber paddle tails 2 or 3 inches or go with small minnows.

You can launch at Bay Bridge Sport Shop for Sodus fishing or the DEC launches at the south and north ends of Port Bay.

Don’t forget you need to wear a PFD until May.

Check out the rest of the Wayne County Tourism web page for the locations and hours of local bait and tackle shops. www.waynecountytourism.com.

Erie Canal- There were still some kayak anglers fishing the Widewaters section of the canal. Largemouth bass are still hitting spinnerbaits and the season is open until November 30th. After that you can catch and release only.
