After the ice flows out of Lake Erie , the warm water from all the way in Ohio hits Lake Ontario at the Niagara Bar. With a rise in the salmon’s metabolism caused by the warmer lake water the bite starts there. Also any warm water source flow into the lake will turn on the bite. Rivers, streams, roadside ditches all contribute to good fishing. Pay attention to your surface water temperature readings is important. Offshore winds blow the warmer waters offshore and cold water upwellings replace the warm water and the salmon and trout move off shore with the warm water.
