It is like comparing apples and oranges so it depends on intended use. The Smarttroll is more flexible in that you can monitor indiividual lines and lures while the Fishawk X4D does about all you may need to do for most normal applications the Smartroll is pricey if you get additional probes than it comes with.

It's probably just the probe and I'm sure it probably had water in it at one point in time you can buy brand new probes for 200 or send that into the guy and he'll look at it it'll still cost you a hundred something keep me posted if you want to get rid of that
