We’re delighted to share that a new New York State record walleye was recently caught.

According to the DEC, the record-setting fish was caught by Brian Hartman in the St. Lawrence River using a swimbait. The fish was caught on May 5, 2018, which also happened to be the opening day of walleye season this year. The walleye weighed in at 18 pounds 2 ounces, was 32 inches long, and had a 21 inch girth. The previous state-record-setting walleye had been caught in 2009 and weighed 1.5 pounds less.

Hartman is from Alexandria Bay, NY. A photo of Hartman with this fish can be found by clicking here.
